As reported by Deadline, Sudeikis offered insights into the show's future during an appearance on the Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso podcast. When asked about the prospect of Seasons 5 and 6, Sudeikis expressed his personal desire for more, stating he "would like to" continue the story. He acknowledged the significant collaborative effort involved in such an undertaking, noting that it "takes a village." Regarding Apple's potential openness to more Ted Lasso, Sudeikis optimistically speculated, "I would assume so."
However, Sudeikis was also realistic about the current state of affairs. He admitted to uncertainty about whether more episodes would materialize, saying, "I just don’t know," and clarified that "We haven’t started a writers’ room or anything like that." This indicates that while the idea is appealing, concrete steps toward production are not yet underway.
The podcast host, Sam Fragoso, drew a parallel to the creative process behind the third season, which many initially thought would be the series' swansong. Fragoso noted that Sudeikis had felt creatively depleted before crafting that season, suggesting a similar wellspring might be needed for further installments. Sudeikis responded with characteristic humor, quipping, "Um, we’re going to need a bigger cup."
Despite the creative challenges, Sudeikis didn't dismiss the possibility. He shared that even after a lengthy hiatus following Season 3, he continued to hear the distinct voices of the characters in his head, with "other new voices" eventually joining them, referring to the women on the team in Season 3. Ultimately, the actor and writer views the prospect positively, concluding, "I think it’d be fun."
