Television fans are buzzing with anticipation as the International Emmy Awards gear up for their 54th annual ceremony. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the contenders this week, showcasing a vibrant array of talent and storytelling from every corner of the world.

The United Kingdom leads the pack with an impressive 15 nominations, followed closely by Brazil with nine, and Spain securing four nods. The global competition highlights the ever-increasing quality and reach of international television.

In the prestigious Drama Series category, viewers will see Steven Knight’s Hulu boxing drama A Thousand Blows go head-to-head with Apple TV+’s French-language period piece Careme, which delves into the world of haute cuisine. Also vying for the top drama honor are Amazon MGM Studios’ Argentinian series Menem and India’s compelling Real Kashmir Football Club.

Comedy also promises fierce competition. Netflix’s British entry Man Vs Baby, starring Rowan Atkinson as a bumbling father, is up against the second season of Argentina’s Division Palermo (Community Squad), Spain’s Old Dog, New Tricks, and India’s Vir Das: Fool Volume.

The acting categories feature a strong lineup of international talent. For Best Actor, nominees include Javier Camara for Yakarta, Ricardo Darin in The Eternaut, Ian Roberts for A Kind of Madness, and Bobby Schofield in Unforgivable. The Best Actress race sees Mona Mina Leon for Holy Shit, Barbara Mori in Lucca’s World, Park Ji-hyun for You and Everything Else, and Sheridan Smith in I Fought The Law competing for the coveted statuette.
