The original film, released in France on December 15, 2021, proved to be a significant success at the box office, drawing an impressive 656,228 spectators—nearly 700,000 admissions. Its charm lay in its portrayal of a couple, Chantal and Christian, who went to great lengths to stay connected with their adult children, often resorting to elaborate schemes.

Now, the creative team is back to explore the next chapter of this endearing family saga. Alexandre Leclère, who wrote and directed the first installment, is once again at the helm for "Mes très chers petits enfants," ensuring continuity in tone and vision.

The sequel is set to pick up a few years after the events of the first film. Chantal and Christian, having navigated the challenges of their children's independence, are now enjoying a well-deserved and active retirement filled with sports, friends, social events, and exciting travel plans. However, their newfound freedom is abruptly interrupted when both of their children deliver surprising news: they are about to become parents themselves.

Suddenly thrust into the role of grandparents, Chantal and Christian find their idyllic retirement crumbling as occasional babysitting duties quickly escalate into full-time childcare. Overwhelmed and determined to reclaim their personal lives, the resourceful couple devises a new strategy. Employing their favorite tactics—deception and boundless imagination—they set out to become the most 'unfrequentable' grandparents, hoping to deter their children from relying on them too heavily.

Filming for "Mes très chers petits enfants" commenced on October 26 and is scheduled to continue until December 17, 2026, primarily in the Ile-de-France region. In addition to the returning core cast of Josiane Balasko, Didier Bourdon, and Marilou Berry, the film will introduce new faces, including Ben, Laurent Stocker of the Comédie-Française, Esteban, and Joséphine de Meaux.

Audiences can mark their calendars for December 22, 2027, when "Mes très chers petits enfants" is slated to hit cinemas, offering a fresh dose of heartwarming and hilarious family dynamics.
