A high-stakes collaboration is officially in motion as Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson join forces for Netflix's upcoming thriller, The Take. Announced by Allociné, the project promises a fresh take on the heist genre, moving beyond traditional bank robberies to delve into a complex web of manipulation and betrayal.

Filming has commenced in New Jersey for the movie, which was initially known by the working title Here Comes the Flood. Guiding this star-studded cast is Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles, celebrated for his work on the critically acclaimed City of God, the Oscar-winning The Constant Gardener, and the Netflix original The Two Popes, which earned Oscar nominations for its lead actors. The screenplay for The Take is penned by Simon Kinberg, known for his contributions to blockbusters like Mr. & Mrs. Smith and various X-Men installments.

Unlike conventional heist films that often focus on meticulously planned operations by organized crews, The Take is set to prioritize psychological games and unexpected twists. The synopsis reveals an intricate plot involving a bank security guard, a teller, and a master thief, all entangled in a dangerous dance of deception and double-crosses, where allegiances are constantly shifting.

The casting alone is a major draw for the project. Denzel Washington, a two-time Academy Award winner, brings his formidable presence and intense dramatic power, following roles in iconic films such as Training Day and the Equalizer franchise. Robert Pattinson, known for his versatile career spanning indie dramas and major blockbusters like The Batman and the upcoming Dune: Part Three, adds another layer of intrigue to the duo. Rising star Daisy Edgar-Jones, lauded for her breakout role in the series Normal People and recent turn in Reason and Sentiment, rounds out the central trio.

The ensemble cast extends further, with Deadline reporting that Danai Gurira (Black Panther, The Walking Dead), Sean Harris (Mission: Impossible franchise), Moisés Arias (Fallout), and Justin Kirk (Succession) have also joined the production, promising a rich tapestry of characters.

While no official release date has been announced, The Take is slated for a direct global release on Netflix, bypassing a theatrical run. Film enthusiasts will undoubtedly be eager for the first glimpse of this highly anticipated thriller, which brings together an exceptional blend of talent from different generations of Hollywood.
