Zolghadri will portray the character of Kent, a young man embroiled in an escalating conflict that quickly spirals beyond his control. The role will see Kent forced to confront long-buried questions following the unexpected reemergence of a figure from his past.

'My Darling California' is described as an L.A. crime thriller set in 1980 Los Angeles. The plot centers on a televangelist and his newscaster wife as they desperately try to contain a multi-faceted scandal that threatens to ruin their careers. Zolghadri joins a star-studded cast that includes Academy Award-winner Jessica Chastain, Chris Pine, Chris Evans, Mikey Madison, and Don Cheadle.

This casting marks a significant step for Zolghadri, who has been steadily building a compelling resume. He held smaller roles in acclaimed films like Bo Burnham’s 'Eighth Grade' and HBO’s 'Fahrenheit 451' before leading the Prime Video sci-fi drama series 'Tales From the Loop.' More recently, he has garnered attention for supporting performances in films such as 'Y2K,' 'If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,' and 'Lurker.' His latest project, Alexandrea Pechman’s drama 'Magazine,' just premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and he has upcoming roles in Yonah Lewis and Calvin Thomas’s 'The Temple' and Annie Baker’s 'Ancient History' for A24.

Director Elijah Bynum is known for his work on the A24 drama 'Hot Summer Nights,' which starred Timothée Chalamet, and the 2023 film 'Magazine Dreams,' featuring Jonathan Majors. He will helm 'My Darling California,' which is slated to be shot entirely within the state of California.

The film boasts a strong production team, with David Hinojosa, Alex Coco, and Sébastien Raybaud producing. Scott Budnick and Ameet Shukla of 1Community, along with Emily Blavatnik and Danny Cohen of Access Entertainment, are also involved in the production. Len Blavatnik, owner of Access Entertainment, and Zach Nutman of 2AM will serve as executive producers. Anton produced, backed, and handled international sales for the film, with Anton and CAA Media Finance co-representing U.S. and global rights.
