Yaga, created by acclaimed screenwriter Kat Sandler, plunges viewers into the eerie depths of British Columbia, where ancient myths seem to bleed into modern-day mysteries. The narrative centers on Rapp, a private detective, portrayed by Noah Reid, widely recognized for his work in Schitt’s Creek. Rapp is tasked with investigating the perplexing disappearance of the young heir to a powerful local fishing enterprise. His initial inquiries quickly lead him into a complex and dangerous web, where he crosses paths with Carson, a wary and pragmatic local inspector played by Clark Backo, who recently appeared in Venom: The Last Dance.

Central to this unfolding mystery is Katherine, Moss's character. She is introduced as a charismatic university professor with an unapologetic weakness for younger men, a detail that immediately adds a layer of intrigue to her persona. As Rapp delves deeper into the investigation, he uncovers a labyrinth of elusive suspects, deeply buried community secrets, and ancient, powerful forces that appear to be manipulating events from the shadows. The series promises a thrilling exploration of the infamous Baba Yaga myth, a figure from Slavic folklore, weaving ancestral magic and supernatural elements into its contemporary mystery. Moss’s portrayal of Katherine is set to be a key component in unraveling the supernatural undercurrents of the plot, challenging conventional notions of good and evil and adding significant layers of psychological depth to the unfolding drama.

This role marks another notable television appearance for Moss, following her recent work in the action-comedy series Fubar and the Norwegian crime drama Wisting. Her involvement in Yaga is expected to draw considerable attention to the series, given her enduring legacy from The Matrix saga and her consistent ability to deliver compelling and complex performances across diverse genres. Fans eager to see her in a new, enigmatic role will find much to anticipate.

The ensemble cast further strengthens Yaga's appeal. Alongside Moss, Reid, and Backo, the series features Hudson Williams, known for his compelling performance in Heated Rivalry, who takes on the pivotal role of the vanished heir. This marks Williams's first major role since his breakout performance as Hollander earlier this year, which brought him international recognition and established him as a rising star. The dynamic between these characters, set against a backdrop of folklore and contemporary crime, is poised to be a major draw.

The initial episodes of Yaga are now available for streaming on HBO Max, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in a captivating thriller that dares to venture boldly into the realm of the fantastic, promising a unique blend of suspense and supernatural intrigue.
