Even as summer temperatures linger, the streaming giant is already looking ahead to the winter holidays, dropping the first look at its upcoming Christmas feature. As reported by Ecranlarge.com, this project sees Schwarzenegger continuing his prolific return to acting, embracing a role that's iconic in a vastly different way from his Terminator days.

Schwarzenegger, much like his contemporary Sylvester Stallone, shows no signs of slowing down. After a significant comeback in the 2010s, he has taken on diverse roles, including voice work for the series Secret Level and leading two seasons of Netflix's action-comedy series FUBAR. While projects like a new Conan the Barbarian film, King Conan, are still on the horizon, 'The Man with the Bag' offers a lighter, family-friendly vehicle for the former Governor of California.

The film's premise sees Santa Claus forming an unlikely alliance with a former thief. Their mission? To recover Santa's magical bag, which has been stolen. This classic Christmas caper setup is bolstered by an intriguing cast.

Joining Schwarzenegger is Alan Ritchson, known for his formidable presence in projects like Reacher, Fast X, and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Ritchson, often seen as a spiritual successor to action heroes of Schwarzenegger's era due to his physique and genre work, adds an interesting dynamic to the festive pairing. The ensemble also includes Awkwafina, the versatile rapper and actress recognized for roles in Ocean's 8, Crazy Rich Asians, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Behind the camera, Adam Shankman, known for directing Hairspray and The Pacifier (starring Vin Diesel), takes the helm. Shankman has a knack for placing action stars in unexpected comedic or family-oriented roles, making him a fitting choice for this project. The screenplay is penned by Allan Rice, whose previous work includes numerous episodes of the Disney Channel series Stuck in the Middle.

'The Man with the Bag' is clearly designed for the streaming landscape, and it will debut exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. French audiences can mark their calendars for December 2, 2026, for its release.
