The beloved PAW Patrol universe is set to expand further with a fourth cinematic installment, currently dubbed PAW Patrol 4, announced to be in development. The news, exclusively reported by Deadline, confirms that Spin Master Corp, Paramount Animation, and Nickelodeon Movies are collaborating on the project, with a theatrical debut eyed for 2029.
At the helm once more will be Cal Brunker, the director responsible for the franchise's previous big-screen successes: PAW Patrol: The Movie, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, and PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie. Brunker will also co-write the screenplay alongside Bob Barlen, ensuring a familiar creative vision guides this new adventure.
The decision to continue the animated saga comes as no surprise, given the immense global success of the PAW Patrol franchise. The previous films collectively grossed over half a billion dollars worldwide, while the brand boasts an astounding $18 billion in lifetime retail sales. Originating in 2013, PAW Patrol has consistently ranked as the number one preschool show on Nick Jr., reaching audiences in over 190 territories and 33 languages.
Executives from the partnering studios expressed their enthusiasm for the franchise's continued growth. Vishnu Athreya, EVP & President of Spin Master Entertainment, highlighted the strategic investment in the property. "*PAW Patrol* is a global entertainment phenomenon, and we’re investing in the franchise to give fans more of what they love," Athreya stated, outlining plans to broaden the PAW Patrol universe through a diverse range of content, including series, specials, and short-form video.
Jennifer Dodge, President of Paramount Animation, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the pups' special place in families' hearts. "We’re thrilled to continue the pups’ journey on the big screen," she commented, underscoring the commitment to delivering an adventure crafted specifically for the theatrical experience. Dodge previously played a crucial role at Spin Master, where she helped build its entertainment division and oversaw the franchise's creative and toy line evolution.
Director Cal Brunker shared his excitement about the audience connection to the films. "Watching the way audiences have connected with the PAW movies has been incredible," Brunker remarked. "We’ve written a new story that we think audiences are going to love, and we can’t wait to share it with the world."
This upcoming film signifies a robust future for the PAW Patrol brand, promising more high-stakes rescues and heartwarming tales for a new generation of fans.
